Our main goal is to help others. Please keep the following points in mind.
Be sure you have permission to stay after school. Come prepared with the necessary supplies, especially on lunch-making days. Be sure someone can pick you up promptly. Act with decourum so that we may accomplish our goals. Feel a sense of accomplishment in helping others. |

Painting Pumpkins for Stella Maris Thank you to the Reese Family for donating the pumpkins. November 14, 2009 Making Posters for "Everything but the Turkey" outreach. November 18, 2009 Making baskets and placemats for "Everything but the Turkey." Our Social Action Committee’s Thanksgiving Project is under way. The SAC decorated boxes to hold all of the donated goodies each class will be collecting for the "Everything But the Turkey" project. Each grade in the school has been assigned a food item. Grade 8 - Desserts (non-refrigerated packaged items) Grade 7 - Coffee Grade 6 - Tea Grade 5 - Canned soup Grade 4 - Canned corn Grade 3 - Canned cranberry sauce Grade 2 - Boxed stuffing Grade 1 - Gravy (canned or packaged) Kindergarten - Canned vegetables Prekindergarten - Instant potatoes All food items are due by November 19. The SAC decorated boxes for the "Toiletries for the Homeless" outreach led by Mrs. Pat Loeffler of Saint John Parish. These boxes will hold the donated items that each class will be collecting for the project. Each grade in the school has been assigned a specific toiletry item. Each item must be TRAVEL SIZED. Grade 8 - Chapstick Grade 7 - Deoderant Grade 6 - Toothpaste Grade 5 - Conditioner Grade 4 - Hand Sanitizer Grade 3 - Lotion Grade 2 - Deoderant Grade 1 - Toothpaste Kindergarten - Toothbrushes Prekindergarten - Chapstick Donated items are due by December 16. Thank you for your generosity! Special thanks to Lynn and Ty Schumacher's grandfather for donating 60 bars of soap and shampoo for the project. December 16, 2009 We will be filling bags with the toiletries items, and we will share some Christmas snacks. January 20, 2010 - decorate bags and make cards for Gift of Hope - explain Pennies for Patients and Hats On (two fundraisers for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society); students will make posters - bring Valentine candy for the February 10 meeting Only the Social Action Club members will bring candy. February 10, 2010 - decorate lunch bags for Valentine’s Day lunches for Saint John Parish outreach February 24, 2010 To be announced Thank You! The Social Action Club would like to thank everyone for your generosity in our "Pennies for Patients" project in which we collected money for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in Gabby LoPresti's name. The money has not been counted as of this writing, but we’ll be sure to let you know as soon as we know. March 3, 2010 The Social Action Club is planning a "Hats On Day" to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Everyone in school will wear a hat on Wednesday, March 3, in support of our dear friend, Gabby. The donation to participate is one dollar (or more, if you wish). The donation will be sent to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in Gabby's name. See you with your "Hats On" on Wednesday, the 3rd of March! March 10, 2010 The SAC will make posters and decorate Boxes for our "Pieces of Home" project. This project involves preparing "care packages" to be sent to men and women serving in the military. We have been provided with a list of recommended items to help us prepare our care packages. More information will follow. March 24, 2010 The SAC will fill the boxes for the "Pieces of Home" project and write letters to the recipients of the boxes. April 14, 2010 The SAC will make posters for our collection of baby items for the Birthright Baby Shower to be held on May 14 by the Knights' Ladies. The following is a list of items to be collected. Grade 8 - powder, lotion. baby body wash, diaper cream Grade 7 - booties, socks, shoes, sleepwear Grade 6 - baby wipes Grade 5 - clothing (12 to 24 months), blankets Grade 4 - clothing (newborn through 9 months), bottles Grade 3 - baby rattles, teething toys, pacifiers Grade 2 - diapers (stage 3 and 4 sizes) Grade 1 - diapers (stage 2 size) Kindergarten - diapers (stage 1 size) Prekindergarten - newborn-size diapers Thank you, in advance, for your generosity. We will also decorate lunch bags for the homeless. Lunches are made by Saint John parishioners under the direction of Mrs. Pat Loeffler. We have wonderful SAC artists who can make a brown bag look like a work of art! April 28, 2010 The SAC will be organizing the baby items and preparing them for delivery to the Knights’ Ladies. | |
